The pernicious complement of the Root Cause Fallacy is the Single Change Principle: changing a single micro behavior is sufficient to realize a glorious macro future.

Even ignoring the idealism of perfect substitutability, the system in which the change is adopted is itself changed by the new behavior. And despite all the evidence that AI is an amplifier and a magnifier, there’s a recurring belief that simply increasing AI usage at the micro level will necessarily increase effectiveness at the macro level. It’s not a shortcut, it’s a mirror.
