Yep & API-G Proxy mapping is at odds with the WAF guidelines.

Proxy trades reduced API-G configuration (which is, err, “verbose”) in exchange for union of IAM privs and internal Lambda routing. HTTP safe methods don’t need mutating privs.

I often have to read the SDK to figure out what privs a given compound API call needs. Lots of trial and error. Makes the `*` option really tempting.
Related, there has to be something better than this:

AFAIU API-G Proxy integration is HTTP ANY /resource -> a single Lambda?

🤔 - k, that’s not how I understood https://docs.aws.amazon.com/apigateway/latest/developerguide/api-gateway-set-up-simple-proxy.html

(Moving out of mentions...)
@prestomation Agree that’s a scoped usage. Still stand by the position that https://docs.aws.amazon.com/apigateway/latest/developerguide/api-gateway-set-up-simple-proxy.html offers a tantalizing lower-config promise that is at odds with POLA & encourages monolambdas.
